cilantro!

Today's hot weather got me thinking about summer foods I love - like cilantro, cucumbers, BLTs, panzanella, chard pie, pesto, and rhubarb spritzers. So I planted A LOT of cilantro today - and also dill, arugula, mustard greens, beets, and a few other things.

I think my cucumber plants doubled in size since this morning. Good thing some plants like the heat.

This past week was a busy one. I managed to get our seed potatoes planted - a process which required the use of the hiller/furrow attachment on the new tiller. It worked really well!  I'm trying not to notice that my rows are a little crooked.

listen in

Stout Oak Farm got some attention on NHPR yesterday! As part of their week-long series "Eating In: New Hampshire's Food Supply," we were asked to talk about what it takes to start up a new farm.  Our interview was included in yesterday's piece on the Exchange, "New Hampshire Food Economy 101."  To listen, click here

Be sure to tune in throughout the week, but especially on Thursday at 9:00am, when Sara Zoe Patterson of Seacoast Eat Local will be a guest on the Exchange for their segment on "Localism in New Hampshire."
